This piece is made from timber from the root system of an ancient Kauri tree that stood in Northland rain forest thousands of years ago.
Natural gouges either side of a pinch point in the middle have been blackened using the yuki sugi technique to create a hypnotic contrast to the warmth of the polished Kauri timber.
