This piece is one of my favourites. Turned from ancient Kauri that stood thousands of years ago in Northland, New Zealand, it hasn't been overly worked, retaining a myriad of original detail within the twisted, almost tortured textures of the root system timber.
There's so much happening in this piece, which you can take your time to discover by turning it on its base bearing.
I've burnt the intricate details of the timber around this piece, which contrasts nicely with the warmth of the polished exterior.
