This unique ovoid piece is made from the root system of an ancient Kauri tree that stood in Northland, New Zealand, around 26,000 years ago. The top cleft in the root has been filled with aquamarine resin, reflecting the colour of the sea around the Waiheke coastline. Gold leaf has been worked into two natural gouges on the sides, adding dramatic colour when hit by light. The piece has a resin finish, which has been cut and polished. It sits on a bearing, enabling it to spin.
