Crafted from Monterrey Cypress, or Macrocarpa timber, a fast growing and brittle tree introduced from the US to New Zealand during the early 1800’s, this piece is brooding and mysterious.
It has been burnt all around using the yuki sugi technique, with the broad gouges having been finished with blue/red dragon scale shift and splashes of antique gold.
Mounted on bearings, you can take in the ever changing contours and rifts that define this work and make it something to treasure.
